About Colescott
Colescott Rubin literally performs in his sleep. He has the bizarre ability to create art while sleeping, including writing songs, lyrics, jokes, even vividly dreaming his performances before they’ve happened.
During his waking hours however…
Colescott Rubin is a time-traveling creole musical entertainer with a whimsical flair for vaudeville & circus. He is an award-winning bassist/tubist/singer/songwriter known internationally for playing originals, covers, & improvised songs while unicycling, doing acrobatics, and other stage antics. He plays sold-out shows coast-to-coast for audiences of all ages, and appeared on American Idol 2024. Past collaborators include Grammy-winners Esperanza Spalding, John Legend, Old Crow Medicine Show, Patrice Rushen, Catherine Russell, Charmaine Neville, Chuck Israels, & others. He has performed at festivals across the USA and around the world in Iceland, Russia, Spain, Argentina, Greece, Mexico, and elsewhere. His band “Colescott & His Red Hots”, named after his grandfather’s 1940s swing band, takes inspiration from his great-grandfather, a New Orleans musician who played with Louis Armstrong over 100 years ago. He also tours with his family variety act, the Rubin Brothers, and just released his first four self-produced records to streaming, crowdfunded by his fans. He graduated Berklee College of Music summa cum laude and has been teaching there since 2022. Last year, he played stadium shows directing the brass band for the major league rugby team, the New England Free Jacks, and worked with multiple circuses in NYC.
He’s currently booking tour dates for his solo music/circus/comedy show, and exploring voice acting & commercials, as personally advised to him by Lionel Richie when he was on American Idol. May 2025 brings his theatrical debut with the Rubin Brothers at the Voorhees Theater in Brooklyn, NY.
